A little joy spreads smiles
Meet the team
I started my journey in education 10 years ago working as a paraprofessional in a developmental preschool classroom. Since then I have taught preschool (infants to 3-year-olds), transitional kindergarten, kindergarten, middle schoolers, and nannied children with autism. I hold a WA teaching certificate for elementary education with an early childhood endorsement. I have a dual bachelor's degree in early childhood and elementary education. In June 2025 I will have completed my master's degree in education.
I am extremely passionate about high-quality early childhood education and started Little Joy after having my own kids. I wanted to create a place for young children that reflected the intentionality of a curated environment meant especially for them. The Reggio Emilia Approach and its philosophy of the environment as a third teacher guides my work at Little Joy. My experiences in the classroom encourage me to look at the world through a prism of hope, in order to see the unexpected flowering of child life.
I recruited my mom to join me after she retired. She is part of the inspiration behind Little Joy as she has always wanted to start a school for young kids. She is passionate about caring for infants, has experience as a paraprofessional, and brings a wealth of knowledge from her firsthand experience raising 6 kids. Not only is she the best mom in the world, she's also bilingual and speaks French!
We can't wait to meet you
